Ours is the Largest County in England
It contains hundreds of medieval sites most of which would have been familiar to Richard III on his journeys around the county.
In this section of our web site we hope to give the visitor an introduction to many of these sites. There is a short account of each and what if anything is left to see.
The section comes in four links with the following headings:
- The City of York and its Medieval Churches.
- Castles and Fortified Defensive Manor Houses.
- Northern Churches
- Religious Foundations
If you click on the links above, a popup window will open with images together with brief descriptive captions. The highlighted picture has fuller descriptive material with it and we shall be varying the special feature, and including different new pictures whenever possible.
